Wonderland Sound & Vision and Voltage Pictures have signed Amy Schumer to play the lead in the comedy I Feel Pretty. Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein wrote the script and Silverstein will make his feature directorial debut on the project. Deadline was not able to dig up any plot information about the movie, but given that it'll mark the film directing debut of Abby and Marc, who have written scripts for the likes of How To Be Single, The Vow, and Never Been Kissed, you can pretty much figure that it'll be a romantic comedy.
The producers anticipate a summer production start for I Feel Pretty on the East Coast. Schumer will serve as a producer alongside Wonderland’s McG and Mary Viola, and Voltage’s Alissa Phillips, Dominic Rustam, and Nicolas Chartier. Voltage snagged the project in a closely guarded yet competitive situation and then quickly attached Schumer. Phillips brought the project in for Voltage. Jonathan Deckter will exec produce for Voltage. Voltage will finance the film and also handle international distribution rights at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. UTA and Voltage will handle domestic rights.
Schumer’s last big-screen appearance was in 2015’s Trainwreck. In March, the actress exited Sony and Mattel’s live-action Barbie movie, citing scheduling conflicts. Schumer also signed on in March to star in the comedic drama She Came to Me from writer-director Rebecca Miller, alongside Steve Carrell and Nicole Kidman.
Schumer next has Snatched, in which she co-stars with Goldie Hawn as a mother/daughter duo kidnapped while on a tropical holiday. That comedy is out here on 19 May. Then there is Thank You For Your Service, which has yet to lock in a UK release date.
